Movia C. Howell, Business Development Manager Joins Vacation Express To Take On New York As Part Of The Tri-state Sales Team

Movia Howell began her career in the travel industry in 1980 with Gogo Worldwide Vacations where she started in the Documents Department and within 9 months was promoted to the Top Accounts Desk where she was responsible for servicing the company's top producers. With her hard work and dedication Howell was requested to open and manage a second office in Brooklyn known as GOGO Schenectady by then President Fred Kassner, where she successfully kept sales in the top 5 average of the multitude of offices the company once operated. She joined Air Jamaica Vacations in 2000 as a Business Development Manager for Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx where she worked diligently and was successful in increasing market share year over year.In 2003, Howell joined Air Jamaica as an Account Executive for the New York Region and aggressively increased sales in both the ethnic and leisure markets until April 2010 when Air Jamaica was sold. Later in 2010 she joined Travel Impressions as Business Development Manager for Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, her territory grew to include Northern New Jersey. The bottom line: Movia knows New York. Jan Perry confirmed as head of new L.A. economic development agency

The role involves conducting desk research as well as visiting countries to investigate possibilities for project development. An important aspect of this will be building relationships with potential partners and funders. You will assess calls for proposals and tenders from international development actors such as the European Union, USAID and DFID. About you You will bring a demonstrable ability to write and manage the preparation of complex donor proposals for tight submission dates. This will partly be shown by your proven track record in raising funds from institutional donors, and from your overall experience in engaging with international donors. Importantly, you will also show experience of financial management and an ability to write and understand budgets. Along with your experience of the media sector you should have experience in the development sector. You will have strong editorial judgement with an understanding of how social media and mobiles can be used in development. Mayor Eric Garcettiin July chosePerry, a formermayoral rival,as interim head of hisEconomic and Workforce Development Department.Last month, he decided to make the appointment permanent. On a unanimous vote, the council approved Garcetti's selection of Perry, who served as a council member for12 yearsbefore running for mayor.She endorsed Garcetti in the May runoff election. The position pays$215,878 a year. During her council tenure, Perry helped broker several real estate development projects in downtown.
